Sh. Maqsood Ahmed, Director of Prosecution, Govt. of NCT of Delhi had completed his schooling from Raja Bharat Singh Inter College, Nangal District Bijnor UP, UP Board, Allahabad in the year 1981 and intermediate in 1983. He pursued his graduation and completed B.A from Sahu Jain College Najibabad District, Bijnor UP, Rohilkhand University, Bareilly UP in the year 1985. He did his LL.B. from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh UP in the year 1989.
He was enrolled as an Advocate in Bar Council of U.P Allahabad in the year 1990 and thereafter transferred to Bar Council of Delhi with enrolment No. D- 366-A/1990 and then started practice as an Advocate at District Courts Delhi and Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. He joined Directorate of Prosecution as Assistant Public Prosecutor on adhoc basis in the year 1995 and on regular basis in the year 1996 at Tis Hazari Court Complex. He was promoted to the post of Additional Public Prosecutor in the year 2005. He was promoted to the post of Chief Public Prosecutor on 29.05.2023. He has worked in the Sessions Courts and dealt with cases of Murder, NDPS, MCOCA, POCSO cases, Anti Corruption cases and other cases of heinous offences.
Since, 29.05.2023, he has worked as Chief Prosecutor at Karkardooma Court Complex, Rohini Court Complex, Rouse Avenue Court Complex, Patiala Court Complex, Tis Hazari Court Complex, Delhi and also remained Member Secretary of Witness Protection Committee, Member of District Compensation Committee, Legal Expert of District Advisory Act under PC and PNDT Act, Member of DLSA, Delhi and Senior Most member of Committee for disposal of decided cases. During his tenure as Chief Prosecutor he represented the Directorate of Prosecution in the 12th IAP, Asia-Pacific Regional Conference held on 11th March to 13th March, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam New Delhi. The said Conference was organized by the All India Prosecutors Association.
On 9th April 2026, he assumed the Post of Director of Prosecution, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and presently working in the capacity of Head of Department.
